Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdares National Park

Meet and greet by your chief entertainment officer for this Kenya safari will be upon arrival at the JKIA. The entertainment begins with a brief on the 5 days Aberdare Lake Nakuru Masai Mara safari. Through the city, you will go as you drive by the lovely villages and countryside full of fresh air. This journey travels through the lush Kikuyu farmlands. The club is the base hotel for your tree hotel – The Ark.

At 1430hrs, you will enjoy a transfer with your hand luggage to the Ark. This tree lodge is located in the Aberdare National Park. With you will be small overnight bags as most of the luggage is left at the club. The Ark has various decks and balconies for easy viewing and photography of wild game. You will have the evening and the night of game watching from the comfort of your hotel room. Dinner and an overnight of game viewing will be at the comfort of the Ark.

About Aberdare National Park

A fairly small reserve, the Aberdare National Park offers a totally different safari experience to the better-known, open savannah parks of Kenya. Situated in the country’s Central Highlands, just 180 kms north of Nairobi, it has two unusual landscapes: a moorland plateau and areas of dense rainforest. When you visit the Aberdare on safari, you’ll not only enjoy unique and spectacular scenery – but also excellent game viewing, especially in its eastern sector.

Although not as easy to spot as on the open plains – you have every chance of seeing the Big 5: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. You may be lucky enough to spot the elusive bongo – a shy antelope that looks a little like a reddish kudu and lives in the bamboo forests – as well as some of its other forest friends like the colobus monkey, golden cat, giant forest hog and leopard. The area also has a respectable birding list at over 250 species.

Day 2: Aberdares – L. Nakuru National Park

The many chirps of the birds that forms the morning melody announces the rise of a new dawn. Up you are for breakfast before a transfer back to the base hotel. Here you will retrieve the rest of your luggage and follow your instinct to a new wildlife territory. This scenic drive takes you through the Rift Valley to one of the fastest growing African towns, Nakuru. Upon arrival, you will check in at Maili Saba Safari Camp in time for lunch and relaxation.

At 1600hrs, enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. The game drive will take you to the shores of this alkaline lake. Lake Nakuru National Park is famous for its birdlife especially flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Other inhabitants here include lions, buffaloes, antelopes, leopards, cheetah, black and white rhinos, among others. Mark the end of your game drive with a stop at the baboon cliff. From this vintage position, you got to have a breath taking view of almost the whole park.

You will finalize your day with a short game drive as you head to your lodge. Evening will be spent watching the sun go down the Menengai Crater. Dinner and overnight will be at your beautiful Nakuru safari accommodation.

About Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru was first gazetted as a bird sanctuary in 1960 and upgraded to National Park status in 1968. The Park has Kenya’s largest population of rhinos. The surface of the Lake Nakuru occupies about a third of the park. It supports a dense bloom of the blue-green Cyanophyte Spirulina platensis from which it derives its color and is a food source for flamingos. During peak season over millions of flamingos and Pelicans congregate on the lake.

Day 3: L. Nakuru – Masai Mara National Park

Imagine waking up to the songs of nature, having breakfast viewing one of the largest of Africa’s volcanic feature? That is what the morning offers you today at Maili Saba Safari Camp. This will be followed by departure through the floor of the Rift Valley. This drive takes you through the culturally significant Suswa Plains as you head to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Your arrival will be in time for lunch at your Masai Mara safari lodge. Some rest will be necessary as you prepare for the evening game drive.

 At 1600hrs enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve. This introductory game drive will sample what is in store for you for the next two nights. You will be looking forward to seeing herds of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, prides of lions, the eve elusive leopard, the cheetah, the laughing hyenas and many more. Later, you will return for dinner and overnight at the Mara Leisure Lodge.

Masai Mara national Reserve is a massive African wildlife game park in Kenya that is conjoined with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. This Kenya national game reserve is famous for a large population of lions, leopards and cheetahs. Covering around 1,510 sqm, the Masai Mara National Reserve offers breathtaking landscapes, boundless wildlife and endless rolling plains. Day 5: Departure
