Andersson’s Camp Etosha
Andersson's Camp takes its name from Charles Andersson. This was a Swedish explorer who first 'discovered' the Etosha Pan. It was in 1851 together with Sir Francis Galton. Andersson's Camp is set against the backdrop of the low Ondundozonanandana Mountains. This luxury camp for those on Etosha safari tour is surrounded by scrub-covered plains and white calcrete soils.
Andersson's Camp was a former farmstead. This has been tastefully rebuilt to modern-day standards to handle clients on Namibia safari tour. The old farmhouse now forms the main area of Andersson's Camp. It has 20 tents radiating outwards into the secluded mopane woodlands typical of the region. The tents are a clever mix of calcrete stone cladding, canvas and wood. They come with double-door entrances and a small veranda. The veranda is an extension of the elevated wooden decks on which the tents are constructed. The en-suite bathrooms continue the unique design. The family units comprise two tents connected by a raised boardwalk.
Andersson's Camp's close proximity to Etosha Pan is ideal for game drive. You can comfortably enjoy full-day self-drives or guided drives into the Etosha National Park. Here you will take in the plethora of game found here. Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier wildlife destination. It is almost the size of Switzerland and is certainly one of Africa's largest game parks. Large herds of plains game concentrate around the waterholes in the dry season. During the summer months' sporadic rainfall produces a profusion of new life. This introduces pronking baby springbok and comical young wildebeest,
Andersson's Camp is a model of eco-sensitive lodging. This luxury camp in Etosha provides an authentic and safe experience for small groups. Families and independent travelers to Etosha National Park can also enjoy accommodation here. Andersson's Camp is also easily accessible by road. Energy-saving initiatives at the camp include solar-heated water for showers. Throughout the camp most of the natural vegetation has been retained.
Accommodation at Andersson's Camp
This luxury camp in Etosha caters for families, groups of friends and couples. Andersson’s camp is strategically located adjacent to Namibia’s famous Etosha National Park. The region is home to lions, elephants, oryx, springbok and zebra. It is one of the best locations to see the rare desert black rhinoceros. Waterholes in the dry season attract herds of wildlife, often stalked by lions, leopard or cheetah. During the green season from December through to December the plains grow a lush carpet of grass. Huge herds of antelope form, once again a magnet for the region’s predators.
The staff at Anderson’s Camp pride themselves on levels of service. This is usually reserved for only the most expensive of camps. They will ensure your stay is a comfortable one in a perfect, rustic bush setting. The camp itself was built with great consideration for the environment. They made use of sustainable materials. All this while taking into account the desert’s fragility. Andersson’s Camp is the perfect base for your Etosha explorations.
