Andersson’s Camp has breathtaking contemporary styling and a touch of Afro-Mediterranean flair, Andersson’s camp at Ongava is where the wild gives rise to a bold new vision of ecotourism.

Taking its name from Charles Andersson, an early European explorer of the wonders of Etosha Pan, Andersson’s camp at Ongava offers exceptional game-spotting opportunities, even from the comfort of your room while on Namibia tour safaris.

The central bar and relaxation area at Andersson’s camp at Ongava, overlooks a well-frequented waterhole, blends naturally into the landscape and offers a panorama of viewing in convivial surroundings.

Andersson’s camp at Ongava is also home to the Ongava Research Centre, a dedicated hub of scientific excellence that is helping to expand humanity’s knowledge and understanding of the wildlife and ecology of the African bush.

Andersson’s Camp takes its name from Charles Andersson. This was a Swedish explorer who first ‘discovered’ the Etosha Pan. It was in 1851 together with Sir Francis Galton.

Andersson’s Camp is set against the backdrop of the low Ondundozonanandana Mountains. This Namibia luxury camp in Etosha is surrounded by scrub-covered plains and white calcrete soils.

Andersson’s Camp was a former farmstead. This has been tastefully rebuilt to modern-day standards. The old farmhouse now forms the main area of Andersson’s Camp. It has 20 tents radiating outwards into the secluded mopane woodlands typical of the region.

The tents at Andersson’s camp at Ongava are a clever mix of calcrete stone cladding, canvas and wood. They come with double-door entrances and a small veranda. The veranda is an extension of the elevated wooden decks on which the tents are constructed.

The en-suite bathrooms at Andersson’s camp at Ongava continue the unique design. The family units comprise two tents connected by a raised boardwalk.

Andersson’s Camp’s close proximity to Etosha Pan is ideal for game drive when on Namibia safari tours. You can comfortably enjoy full-day self-drives or guided drives into the Etosha National Park. Here you will take in the plethora of game found here.

Etosha National Park is Namibia’s premier wildlife destination. It is almost the size of Switzerland and is certainly one of Africa’s largest game parks. Large herds of plains game concentrate around the waterholes in the dry season.

During the summer months’ sporadic rainfall produces a profusion of new life. This introduces pronking baby springbok and comical young wildebeest,

Andersson’s Camp is a model of eco-sensitive lodging. This luxury camp in Etosha provides an authentic and safe experience for small groups. Families and independent travelers to Etosha National Park can also enjoy accommodation here.

Andersson’s Camp is also easily accessible by road. Energy-saving initiatives at the camp include solar-heated water for showers. Throughout the camp most of the natural vegetation has been retained.

From the moment the sun streams through the mopane bush, awakening a new day of exciting possibilities, Andersson’s camp at Ongava invites you to an African safari in style.

Begin with an early morning game drive, in the company of an experienced and knowledgeable guide, or settle in for a quiet session of eye-level viewing in our underground photographic hide.

Your spacious suite, with glass frontage, curved roof beams, and blond wood furnishings, also offers a deck where you can relax and watch the passing parade of wildlife.
