Busanga Bush Camp
Busanga Bush Camp lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park, Zambia. This is a vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains. The plains extend to the horizon. Most often, the mist will rises off the floodplains as they dry up in winter. Many incredible sunrises and sunsets are experienced here. On the other hand the floodplains and dambos teem with wildlife and birds. Busanga Bush Camp is a seasonal luxury camp that is operationsl between 1st June to 31st October.
Busanga Bush Camp is hidden on a tree-island of sycamore fig trees. This luxury Zambia safari camp has four well-appointed en-suite tents. Each tent has a veranda to take in the sweeping views. The lounge and bar area is under canvas with an uninterrupted view out over the plains. A little further back is the dining area. This is shaded by the canopy of a majestic tree. It is from the trees that an unusual lantern chandelier hangs. It romantically lights up dinner here. Most meals at Busanga Bush Camp are served in the open air.
Wildlife at Busanga Bush Camp
The Busanga Plains are famed for its productive prides of lion. Other predators seen here include wild dog and cheetah. They are drawn to the prolific plains game of the area. Puku, red lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest are just some of these plain games. There is a special treat at Busanga Bush Camp which is the resident herd of roan antelope. As the floodplains dry out more and more game is attracted from the surrounding woodlands. It is then that zebra numbers increase and sable venture out onto the plains. Hippos are also abundant and often found in large pods in the channels. For those interested in birding, Kafue National Park, Zambia, boasts 491 bird species. These include as the endemic Chaplin's barbet.
Things to do at Busanga Bush Camp
Activities at Busanga Bush Camp include day and night game drives. This is led by qualified guides who are extremely knowledgeable about the area and its wildlife. You will also enjoy boating during the early part of the season. Hot air balloon safaris run from August to October.
Interpretive game drives at Busanga Bush Camp is in open vehicles. This allow guests to view large numbers of plains game. The game here include puku, red lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest and even the rare roan antelope. The famous lions of Kafue, cheetah and wild dog are also to be seen.
Guided night drives
This is led by a highly trained and knowledgeable guide,. Night drives offer a glimpse into Busanga Plains’ unique, nocturnal world. A diverse range of species may be seen at night. They include genet, civet, owls and occasionally the elusive leopard.
Hot Air Balloon Safari
The most exclusive wildlife ballooning in all of Africa is offered here. This activity allows you to take to the skies in style. Gaze over scenic splendor, watch hippo playing far below and fly eye-to-eye with an eagle. This experience is complimentary for guests who stay three nights or more night. Hot air balloon safari always ends with a champagne breakfast. It runs between the months of August to October.
This is done early on in the season. It is when the Busanga Plains are still covered in much water. A boating excursion during this time allows for exploration of the channels and their life.
Specialist birding safari
Kafue National Park boasts 491 bird species. This includes the endemic Chaplin's barbet. Birding enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice on a specialist birding safari in Zambia. The area is also alive with rollers, bee-eaters, kingfishers, herons and large flocks of storks among others.
Cancellation / Prepayment
PAYMENT & RESERVATIONS POLICY
Reservation and confirmation of a room at Busanga Bush Camp, Zambia has requirements. Clients are required to pay 50% down payment for the requested services. The balance will be required at least 14 days prior to your date of arrival.
African Safari Tour will hold a reservation for up to seven days at a client's request. This is to allow the client time to send a deposit payment. This is if booking are over a month prior to the service. This must be received before we can confirm your booking. If confirmation is not received within the seven days all blocked rooms at Busanga Bush Camp, Zambia will be automatically released for re-sale. The full amount of the service must be made within 14 days of date of arrival at Busanga Bush Camp, Zambia. As for bookings within a month of service, full payment shall be requested for. This will be required before confirmation of Busanga Bush Camp, Zambiai is undertaken.
All cancellations must be received in writing. This will take effect from the date received by African Safari Tour. The following cancellation charges will apply.
More than 56 days before departure: No cancellation fee
56-49 days before departure: 25%
48-29 days before departure: 35%
28-0 days before departure: 100%
The non-issuing of an invoice or non-payment of deposit will not exempt passengers from these cancellation and administration fees. We regret we can make no exception to the charges and strongly recommend that insurance is taken out to cover cancellation fees. These cancellation charges can vary subject to the trading terms of our suppliers.
Children and extra beds
Children older than 2 years are welcome at Busanga Bush Camp, Zambia. One child from 2 to 11 years is charged 50 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed.
The maximum number of extra beds for children in a room is 1.
Any type of extra bed or child's cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management.
Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during your stay.
