Governors Camp Masai Mara is situated on the banks of the Mara River. This is in the west of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The setting for Governors Camp in Masai Mara National Reserve is magical. So much so that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya’s colonial Governors. This luxury Masai Mara safari camp is nestled in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River. The river’s water teems with bird-life, hippo and crocodile. This is in the heart of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Governors Camp was created in 1972. This luxury Masai Mara safari camp set new standards in luxury as a tented camp. Accommodation at the Governors Camp, Masai Mara

Governors camp in Masai Mara consist of 37 tents. These are broken into twenty four twins and twelve double spacious and luxurious safari tents.  All the accommodation units at the luxury Masai Mara safari camp are entirely under canvas. Each tent comes with private verandah, en-suite bathrooms with shower and basin. They also come with flush toilet, bidet and hot and cold running water. The 37 tents line the riverbank and are tucked into the forest. They enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River. Others tents at the Governors camp have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. This luxury Masai Mara safari camp has set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it’s still one of the best luxury camps in Africa.

Other Facilities at the Luxury Masai Mara Safari Camp

Everything at the Governors camp is under canvas. There is a bar tent with deck overlooking the Mara River and dinning tent with views over the plains. Governors Camp was awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco- Tourism Kenya. This is due to its sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
