Governors' Camp is situated on the banks of the Mara River in the west of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. Governors’ Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River. It’s waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile. This is in the heart of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. We are in the heart of what is widely considered to be the best game viewing area while on Masai Mara luxury safari.
The Masai Mara is a unique area with a constant and unequaled flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last great natural wonders of the world. This is when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains. It is in their annual search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them.
Accommodation at Governor's Camp
Governors' Camp ha 37 tents set among the trees. This is along the Mara river, has unrivaled views over the plains. All guest facilities are under canvas and keep the authentic, traditional safari atmosphere. Some of the 37 tents line the riverbank are tucked into the forest. They enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River. They have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara.
The entire camp is under canvas with all the comforts of a luxury hotel. The tents are big, bright and allow in lots of natural light. All tents are classic safari style. Each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah. There is a bar tent with deck overlooking the Mara River and dining tent with views over the plains.

Tents at Governors Camp
Governors camp in Masai Mara consist of 37 tents. These are broken into twenty-four twins and twelve double spacious and luxurious safari tents. All the accommodation units at the luxury Masai Mara safari camp are entirely under canvas. Each tent comes with private verandah, en-suite bathrooms with shower and basin. They also come with flush toilet, bidet and hot and cold running water.
The 37 tents line the riverbank and are tucked into the forest. They enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River. Others tents at the Governors camp have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. This luxury Masai Mara safari camp has set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it’s still one of the best luxury camps in Africa.
Other Facilities at the Luxury Masai Mara Safari Camp
Everything at the Governors camp is under canvas. There is a bar tent with deck overlooking the Mara River and dinning tent with views over the plains. Governors Camp was awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco- Tourism Kenya. This is due to its sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
Cancellation / Prepayment
PAYMENT & RESERVATIONS POLICY
Reservation and confirmation of a room at Governors Camp Masai Mara has requirements. Clients are required to pay 50% down payment for the requested services. The balance will be required at least 14 days prior to your date of arrival.
African Safari Tour will hold a reservation for up to seven days at a client's request. This is to allow the client time to send a deposit payment. This is if Governors Camp Masai Mara booking are over a month prior to the service. This must be received before we can confirm your booking. If confirmation is not received within the seven days all blocked rooms at Governors Camp Masai Mara will be automatically released for re-sale. The full amount of the service must be made within 14 days of date of arrival at Governors Camp Masai Mara. As for bookings within a month of service, full payment shall be requested for. This will be required before confirmation of Governors Camp Masai Mara is undertaken.
All cancellations must be received in writing. This will take effect from the date received by African Safari Tour. The following cancellation charges will apply.
More than 56 days before departure: No cancellation fee
56-49 days before departure: 25%
48-29 days before departure: 35%
28-0 days before departure: 100%
The non-issuing of an invoice or non-payment of deposit will not exempt passengers from these cancellation and administration fees. We regret we can make no exception to the charges and strongly recommend that insurance is taken out to cover cancellation fees. These cancellation charges can vary subject to the trading terms of our suppliers.
Children and extra beds
Children older than 2 years are welcome at Governors Camp Masai Mara. One child from 2 to 11.9 years is charged 50 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed.
The maximum number of extra beds for children in a room is 2.
Any type of extra bed or child's cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management.
Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during your stay.
