The Kafue is among the last true wilderness areas. It covers 22,440km², its unmatched variety of species. You will able to enjoy the wildlife almost on your own, makes this park one of the last secrets of Africa. This is a place to unwind, enjoy the chefs’ cuisine. You will be spoiled with many of activities or, if you prefer, relax and feel the heartbeat of Africa.
Kaingu Safari Lodge is in the Namwala Game Management Area (GMA). This is on a spectacular and remote stretch of the Kafue River. It is approximately 400 kilometers north of the majestic Victoria Falls. Kafue National Park is opposite the lodge and only a 10 minute boat trip away. It offers magnificent game that you can enjoy viewing from open game drive vehicles.
Kafue River has all its myriad of channels, rapids and islands. It lends itself to a range of exciting river based activities. This include boat cruises, fishing, birding, canoeing and river trails. From the top of one of the large granite boulders in the Namwala GMA you will get a 360° view over nothing but nature!
Accommodation in Zambia at Kaingu Safari Lodge
Kaingu Safari Lodge offers guest accommodation. This is both at the Lodge and at three private and individual campsites. It is also both in the Namwala GMA, facing the river and directly opposite the Kafue National Park.
Kaingu Safari Lodge has 6 Chalets. They are divided into 2x doubles and 4 x twins, all en-suite. This Zambia safari lodge in Kafue National Park has a Family house. This unit has 1x room double and 1x room twin, all en-suite. The family unit is specious enough to have an extra bed. The chalets are set on raised individual private wooden decks. Each chalet overlooks the Kafue River. Kaingu Safari Lodge comprises 6 double Meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms. They have indoor showers and an open-air shower. The “Honeymoon-tent” has an extra outside bath. Every tent is roofed with thatch to provide more cooling and further blend into nature.
The Finfoot family house consists of 2 bedrooms one queen and a twin. It has 2 en-suite bathrooms plus outside shower and a central living area. This opens onto a private deck overlooking the river. It’s a perfect spot for a couple with children, or a small group of friends.
All accommodation has gauze screen entrances/doors and windows. They also have mosquito netting over the beds. The two bedside lights and bathroom light are solar powered. They are the other lodge facilities. Plugs can be found in the central area of the lodge for charging of electronic devices.
Water is heated by individual wood boilers. A flask with filtered drinking water and filtered water is always available. Bottled water is also available from the bar at a cost. Yet, for ecological reasons, use of reusable bottles and filtration is encouraged.
The focal point of Kaingu Safari Lodge is the thatched central area (or “Boma”). It comes with a lounge, dining area and bar. Attached to it is a redwood deck built over the river and under the forest canopy. This area provides guests with a beautiful and serene setting for dining, sundowners. You can also decide to relaxing with a book here. There is an all-day tea and coffee station at the lounge. At night a fire is lit in the purpose-built pit on the deck. Solar-lit paths provide easy access between the chalets and the central area.
KAINGU PRIVATE CAMPSITES
3 sites at the rapids, for only one group of guests with max. 2 cars and 6 people each. Separate to the lodge, within walking distance are 3 well appointed grassy campsites. by the rapids. Each site has its own ablution block with cold and hot running water. There is a kitchen sink, fire pits for cooking and a thatched sheltered area. This provides protection against sun and rain.
Groups can also be accommodated in a larger bush camp site with its own separate facilities. Activities and meals and laundry can be organized through the lodge. But, the lodge facilities are not part of the campsite.
Cuisine at Kaungu Safari Lodge
Kaingu has built an enviable reputation for food. Fresh and inventive menus that are updated with each new year. You get seasonal changes ensure that your taste senses are also looked after.
The head chefs Wina and Lizzy are vastly experienced. Kaingu sources produce includes as many organic ingredients as possible. You will also get grass-fed Zambian beef and sustainable wild venison. The meals generally consist of early continental breakfasts before game drives. There is buffet lunch with interesting salads and various dish choices.
Kaingu Safari Lodge Private Campsites
Kaingu Safari Lodge has 3 sites at the rapids. This is meant for only one group of guests. 2 sites can take at most of 2 cars and 6 people each. The other site in the bush can take groups of at most 4 cars and 8 people.
The private campsites are separate to the lodge but within walking distance. The 3 are beautifully appointed grassy campsites by the rapids. Each site has its own ablution block with cold and hot running water. There is a kitchen sink, fire pits for cooking and a thatched sheltered area. The latter provides protection against sun and rain.
Groups can also be accommodated in a larger bush camp site. The site has its own separate facilities. Activities and meals and laundry can be organized through the lodge. Yet, Kaingu Safari Lodge facilities are not part of the campsite.
Cancellation / Prepayment
PAYMENT & RESERVATIONS POLICY
Reservation and confirmation of a room at Kaingu Safari Lodge has requirements. Clients are required to pay 50% down payment for the requested services. The balance will be required at least 14 days prior to your date of arrival.
African Safari Tour will hold a reservation for up to seven days at a client's request. This is to allow the client time to send a deposit payment. This is if booking are over a month prior to the service. This must be received before we can confirm your booking. If confirmation is not received within the seven days all blocked rooms at Kaingu Safari Lodge will be automatically released for re-sale. The full amount of the service must be made within 14 days of date of arrival at Kaingu Safari Lodge. As for bookings within a month of service, full payment shall be requested for. This will be required before confirmation of Kaingu Safari Lodgei is undertaken.
All cancellations must be received in writing. This will take effect from the date received by African Safari Tour. The following cancellation charges will apply.
More than 56 days before departure: No cancellation fee
56-49 days before departure: 25%
48-29 days before departure: 35%
28-0 days before departure: 100%
The non-issuing of an invoice or non-payment of deposit will not exempt passengers from these cancellation and administration fees. We regret we can make no exception to the charges and strongly recommend that insurance is taken out to cover cancellation fees. These cancellation charges can vary subject to the trading terms of our suppliers.
Children and extra beds
Children older than 2 years are welcome at Kaingu Safari Lodge. One child from 2 to 11 years is charged 50 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed.
The maximum number of extra beds for children in a room is 1.
Any type of extra bed or child's cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management.
Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during your stay.
