Day 1: Windhoek – Okaukuejo
Safari travelers will be picked form their Windhoek hotels. This will be done by our Namibia safari rep. You will be brifed on the Etosha Safari in Namibia. This is before departure at 0830hrs. There is a long drive north (550km) on day one. The drive passes through mainly farmland. It is punctuated with refreshment stops at small towns along the way. You’ll be expected in Etosha National Park in the mid afternoon. The term Etosha has been translated differently by different people. The most common is ‘The Place of Emptiness’. This refers to the vast saltpan. You will enjoy game drive on arrival en-route to the Okaukuejo Camp. It is here that you’ll check in and set camp. Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole. Its believed to be one of the best game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa. Okaukuejo means the woman who has a child every year. This may be translated as a prolific woman. You will have dinner at the camp. There is an opportunity to view some of Etosha’s big game. This will be at the floodlit waterhole. The waterhole is conveniently situated on the boundary of the camp. You can eaily reach to it on foot. Black rhino, elephant, lion and numerous species of antelope are frequent visitors. Dinner and overnight will be at Okaukejo Camp.
Day 2: Etosha Park
You’ll spend full day of Etosha Safari in Namibia on game drive. You will depart Okaukuejo after breakfast. The drive skirts along the rim of the pan. This will be marked by visit to a selection of waterholes en-route. The game viewing is usually excellent in these spots. You will meet plains game like zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, springbok, impala and eland. The plain grazers often attract the predators. It is important to be on the lookout for the big cats and dogs. Herds of 50 elephants or more on the middle of the road are not unusual. There is a scheduled stop at Halali Camp for a leisurely lunch. You will also have enough time to visit the waterhole for game. Cool off from the hot afternoon sun in the swimming pool. Refreshments can be purchased at the bar before the journey continues. You will be heading to the eastern side of the park. Tonight, you have your dinner and overnight stop at Namutoni Camp.
Day 3: Windhoek
This will be another long drive on Etosha Safari in Namibia. You will be headed back to Windhoek. You cannot leave before one last game drive on your way out.. The return journey is on the main roads. You will be passing through towns and rural areas. Your last stop will be in the small town of Okahandja. This is the home of Namibia’s largest woodcarvers market. It is one of the best places to shop for truly Namibian souvenirs and curios. Arrival time in Windhoek is scheduled for 1600hrs. You will be dropped off at your respective budget accommodation in Windhoek.
