Detailed 14 day Affordable Gorilla Trekking Uganda Safari
Day 1: ENTEBBE – KAMPALA
Our representative will pick you from the airport upon arrival. After meet and greet, have a detailed brief on your 14 day affordable gorilla trekking. This is to be followed by a transfer to Kampala. Arrive at the Hotel for relaxation and overnight City Square Hotel. This is booked on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: KAMPALA – ZIWA – MURCHISON FALLS
An early morning breakfast prepares you for the day. Leave heading northwest from Kampala. This will take you through the famous Luwero triangle. You will be over the flat landscapes of Nakasongora.
You branch off at Nakitooma to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary headquarters. After a briefing on Rhino tracking, go into the savannah thicket. This is done on foot as you search of these animals that are among the Big five.
You will encounter the southern white Rhinos. This is in the savannah thicket of Ziwa is rewarding. A break for lunch will be followed by a transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Start your 14-day affordable gorilla trekking with an early breakfast. You will then venture into the savannah for a game drive. You will be looking for Elephants, Lions, buffaloes, Jackson hartebeests and waterbucks.
Also watch out for Oribi, Rothschild giraffe, spotted hyenas, leopards and many others. After 3 hours of game drive your 14-day affordable gorilla trekking takes a break. This will be at your Murchison falls safari lodge. It is time for relaxation that will be followed by lunch.
Later in the afternoon you will gather at Paraa Jetty. This is in readiness for the afternoon launch cruise. The cruise goes upstream the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. It offers possibilities of encountering aquatics like Hippos and Nile crocodiles.

About Murchison Falls National Park
This is the largest of Uganda National park. Murchison Falls National Park is located in the north-western part of Uganda. It sprawls inland from the shore of Lake Albert around the Victoria Nile.
It derives its name from the Murchison Falls water fall. Here the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge. It then flows down to become a placid river. The banks are patronized by hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, and buffaloes.
The vegetation is savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife here includes Lions, Leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and hartebeests.
You will also find oribis, Uganda kobs and chimpanzees. Murchison Falls has many bird species including the rare shoebill.
Day 4: MURCHISON FALLS – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy an early morning breakfast. This will be followed by a drive to Kibale Forest National Park. This 14 day affordable gorilla trekking drive goes via Hoima. You will enjoy the impressive views of the Albertine rift and the rural landscapes of Uganda.
Drive through the districts of Kagadi and Kyenjonjo before getting into Fort Portal. Proceed to Kibale Forest in the evening. You will check in at Rwenzori View Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Kibale National Park
Kibale is the perfect place to experience the true diversity of wildlife and flora. The park contains the largest population of forest elephants found in Uganda. Due to their shy nature, they are rarely sighted.
This park is rich in wildlife and particularly noted for is primate population. There are over 11 different primate species in Kibale. They include the red-tailed money, blue monkey, olive baboon and chimpanzee.
In Kibale you will find black, white and red colobus and white cheeked mangabey.
Other mammals found are bushbuck, red and blue duiker and Uganda kob. You will also fins and Scaly-tailed flying squirrel, tree pangolin, buffalo, waterbuck and hippo. The park has a good population of birds.
Day 5: KIBALE FOREST – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Proceed to the pack HQ for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. This is to be followed by a nature walk in the tropical rainforest. You will be searching for wild chimpanzees with trained guides. The search takes about 2 – 5 hours. This is inclusive of one-hour direct encounter with the chimps.
You will enjoy their sights as they consume fruit; roll themselves on tree branches and play. They often make pant and hooting calls which combine that is exhilarating.

Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most popular game parks in Uganda and in east Africa. It is located in the western part of Uganda about 376km from Kampala.
Queen Elizabeth national park is known for its variety of wildlife. Most of these animals were killed in the Uganda-Tanzania war.
The park is a true nature hub with many natural attractions. This makes it a suitable option for Uganda safaris.
It has volcanic features which include volcanic cones and deep craters. It also includes the Maramagambo Forest. There are various species of wildlife that live within its borders.
Day 6: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Start the 14 day affordable gorilla trekking morning with an early breakfast. Set out into the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth for a game drive.
You will head to the Kasenyi area famous for abundant wildlife activities. Expect encounters of Lions, Leopards, Elephants and antelopes. You may also see leopards, side stripped jackal, the spotted hyena and some of the 600 bird species here.
Retreat to your Queen Elizabeth budget accommodation for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon drive down the Mweya Jetty in time for the afternoon boat cruise.
This will be on the Kazinga channel that connects Lakes Edward to George. Kazinga is a natural channel that stretches for 45km from Lake George to Lake Edward. Animals to be seen along the channel include Nile Crocodiles, Hippopotamus and antelope.

Day 7: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast head to Kyambura gorge to catch up with the chimpanzee trekking. This will be at 0800hrs and starts with briefing. You will hike through the 100m deep gorge covered with lush mature tropical forest.
You will get an hour of full direct encounter with the chimpanzees. Return back to your Queen Elizabeth National Park accommodation in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you embark on the forest hike in the Maramagambo. You will explore the amazing forest landscapes with lush flora, fauna and birds.
The forest trail exposes you to the Crater Lake fields and also to the Bat cave. Here you find thousands of bats hanging upside down in their natural habitat. Get back to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: QUEEN ELIZABETH – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy your breakfast to kick off your 14 day affordable gorilla trekking day. This will be followed by checkout and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The drive goes through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP named Ishasha. Here you will be looking for the famous tree climbing lions along with other wild game.
Tree climbing lions are thriving only in Ishasha sector Uganda. The other place known for this is Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania on a world scale.
After lunch, proceed to Bwindi where you will arrive in the evening. You will be in time for relaxation, dinner and overnight Buhoma Community Bandas.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of UNESCO's heritage sites. It is best known for its Mountain Gorilla populations and gorilla tracking although, it also offers some of the finest montane forest birding in Africa and is a key destination for any birder doing a Safari to Uganda.
Amongst the many possibilities are over 23 of Uganda's 24 Albertine Rift endemics. They include globally threatened species such as Shelley's Crimson wing. you will also find the African Green Broadbill here.
Bwindi is among parks in Africa to have flourished throughout the last Ice Age. It is home to roughly half of the world's mountain gorillas.
It is best known for its outstanding gorilla trekking in Uganda. It also provides refuge to elephant, chimpanzee, monkeys and various small antelope.
The variant biodiversity is supported by the fact that Bwindi is quite old. Its slopes extend over a broad altitudinal range of 1447 m above sea level. This enables habitats ranging from lowland forest to Afromontane vegetation.
Day 9: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING IN UGANDA
The day is here and start it with an early breakfast. A transfer to the park HQ will be in time for a briefing. Your 14 affordable gorilla trekking then gets into the forest.
It is time for the long awaited adventure of Gorilla tracking in the Bwindi. Gorilla tracking is an unpredictable activity. It is difficult to estimate how long you may take the jungle.
The excursion may take 2-8 hours. It all depends on the movement of these great apes. Regardless of time spent, the excitement of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile.
One hour with gorillas allows you to gain direct views of these ancient apes. You will have to maintain a seven meter distance.
Return to your Bwindi Forest accommodation for an afternoon of rest and relaxation. Dinner and overnight will follow suit.
Day 10: BWINDI – LAKE BUNYONYI
After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. You will drive through fascinating Kigezi Highlands. Here locals apply terracing method to cultivate their slopes. This creates an impressive scenic landscape worth of viewing and photographing.
Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you embark on the Island hopping experience. You will explore the Bucuranuka (Upside down) Island. It is believed to have buried people alive. This is after they refused to offer local brew to an old woman. She went ahead and cursed the Island which turned upside down burying its inhabitants.
You also visit the Akampane (Punishment) Island. Here the girls with unwanted premarital pregnancies would be dumped. They were left to die of hunger or drown as they as try to swim back the main land.
There is also Bushara, Kyahugye and Njuyera Islands which can also be visited. The hopping experience exposes you to the local life of the Islanders. You will have your meals and overnight at Byoona Amagara Island Resort.
Day 11: LAKE BUNYONYI – LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast your 14 day affordable gorilla trekking drives to Lake Mburo National Park. This is a 199km drive that will take approximately 4 hours.
You will pass through impressive landscapes of south western Uganda. A stop in Mbarara town will let you sample the cuisine here. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park 33km entering through Sanga Gate.

Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is special place. Every part of it is alive with variety, interest and colour. This small, acacia-dotted savanna of Olea and Boscia is home to 68 mammal species.
The Park contains an extensive area of wetland. It harbors several species of mammals not found anywhere else in Uganda. They include zebra and impala. The 315 bird species include the rare Shoebill Stork and African Finfoot.
Lake Mburo has a varied mosaic of habitats and landscapes. They are forests, rich acacia tree valleys, grass lands and seasonal and permanent swamps. The park is with 370 square km the smallest of Uganda’s Savannah national parks.
The main lake of the park is Lake Mburo. Here you can see many hippos wallowing in the water and the large crocodiles lurking on the shores. Birds include cormorant, fish eagle, pelican, heron and many more.
Day 12: LAKE MBURO – KAMPALA
At dawn, take game walk in park to explore the scenic landscapes. There is remarkable acacia Species supporting counts of grazers. These includes Buffaloes, Giraffes, elands, Zebra, Topis, Impala, water bucks among others.
You hike to the top of Kazuma hull to gain views of the park and lakes below. You retreat from the activity and embark on 240km about 3 – 4 hour transfer to Kampala. You make a top at the Equator for impressive photo shoots.
Take your time to get some memorabilia at any of the gift shops to commemorate your visit to Uganda.
Continue to arrive in Kampala in the evening for relaxation. Enjoy dinner and overnight City Square Hotel.
Day 13: KAMPALA CITY TOUR
This is a day dedicated to Kampala city. On this 14-day affordable gorilla trekking day, you will get to know Kampala. After your breakfast, take a trip to Uganda’s capital city.
This starts at 0830hrs exploring sites of cultural sites. You will also have time for sites of historical, religious, political and educational significance. Visit the Bahai temple – the biggest and only religious temple building of its kind in Africa.
Baha’i temple is a good site for picnic because of its beautiful picnic scenery. It is placed on a hill that gives you a view of the city. Go to the Uganda Museum with lots of colonial, cultural and traditional collections.
Makerere University is the first and the oldest university in East Africa. Kasubi tombs – The largest crypt in Africa and special burial place for Baganda kings. Our guide will be pleased to give you a brief and interesting history on the same.
