4 day Tanzania Luxury Safari Itinerary
Day 1: ARUSHA – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Our Tanzania safari rep will meet you at 0900hrs. You will be briefed on the 4 day Tanzania luxury safari. This will be followed by a transfer to Arusha Airport. You will be in time for the 1130hrs flight to Serengeti National Park. You will arrive at the Seronera Airstrip at 1330hrs.
Our driver guide will be at hand to welcome you to Serengeti. Enjoy a short game drive to your Serengeti safari lodge. You will be there in time for lunch. After a short rest, you will embark on an afternoon game drive.
The Seronera region is rich in plains wildlife. Here you have great chances to see the lions, cheetahs and the elusive leopards. Plain grazers like the antelopes, wildebeest and zebras among others can’t be missed. Herds of elephants and buffaloes also dot these plains. Return to Serengeti Serena Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
About Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park lies in between the shores of Lake Victoria in the Eastern side and Kenya’s Masai Mara to the Northwest. with hills rising out of the seemingly endless plains, rivers and small lakes, magnificent rocky outcrops and the occasional swamp add to the memorably breath taking scenery of the safari park’s fascination.
Serengeti’s prodigious wild life, the animals, native people, vast plains and varied topography create a variety that’s unmatched by any park on earth. This is the place almost that rings in everybody’s mind whenever the words “African Wildlife Safari” come to mind. It would probably be enough that Serengeti, established in 1951, is the greatest preserve of plains and animal species conservation on earth.
The list of wildlife species inhabiting the Serengeti plains is almost overwhelming: wildebeest, zebras, lions, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, hippopotamus, buffalo, eland, reedbucks and jackals live, prosper and die in wild, unfettered surroundings displaying a formidable rule of the food chain’s “survival for the fittest”. There are about 500 different species of birds, including flocks of flamingos that turn the sky into a mile-long of swirling pink clouds when they take flight.
It is the chance to see such abundant life in its natural surroundings that draws so many visitors here where the strength of the park is surpasses the extravagant gifts of nature. An excellent insight lies behind its organization.
Day 2: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Your 4 day Tanzania luxury safari starts with breakfast. With picnic lunch boxes embark on a full day game drive. You will explore the endless Serengeti plains.
The drive takes you to the almost treeless grassland of the south. This is the most emblematic scenery of the park. Here you find zebra, gazelle, impala, hartebeest, topi, buffalo and waterbuck. They normally occur in huge numbers during the wet season.
You also have Kopjes around this region. They are great observation posts for predators and mostly lions. The rocks are as a refuge for hyrax and pythons. Drive back to Serengeti Serena Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: SERENGETI – NGORONGORO CRATER NATIONAL PARK
You will enjoy your breakfast on this 4 days Tanzania luxury safari at Serengeti Serena Lodge. This will be followed by departure with game drive from Serengeti.
The drive heads south-east to Ngorongoro Crater National Park. You will go via historically rich Ol Duvai Gorge. After a stop at the museum and lunch proceed to Ngorongoro. The crater is one of the most amazing sights of the world. It is like no other and the only caldera with a multitude of wildlife.
The evening will be spent at the crater rim enjoying some nature walk. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
About Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a huge area containing active volcanoes, mountains, archeological sites, rolling plains, forests, lakes, dunes and of course, Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge. The views at the rim of Ngorongoro Crater are sensational.
On the crater floor, grassland blends into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and mountains – all a heaven for wildlife, including the densest predator population in Africa. The crater is home to up to 25,000 large mammals, mainly grazers – gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and warthog. You will not find giraffe as there is not much to eat at tree level, or topi, because the competition with wildebeest is too fierce, nor will you find impala. The crater elephants are strangely, mainly bulls.
There are a small number of black rhinos here too. The birdlife is largely seasonal and is also affected by the ratio of soda to fresh water in Lake Magadi on the crater floor.
In the northern, remote part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will find Olmoti and Empakaai Craters, Lake Natron and Oldoinyo Lengai, Mountain of God, as named by the Maasai. Lake Natron is the only known breeding ground for East Africa’s flamingoes.
The ruins of a terraced stone city and complex irrigation system lie on the eastern side of Empakaai – the Engakura Ruins. Their origins are a mystery as there is no tradition of stone building in this part of Africa.
Day 4: NGORONGORO – ARUSHA
Start your Tanzania luxury safari day with an early breakfast. You will check out of the lodge with picnic lunch boxes. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for 3 hours crater tour.
Ngorongoro Crater is world heritage site. Ngorongoro crater is the world’s largest caldera. Alongside are cliffs standing some 600 meters high. They present a sheer drop down to a wide open space. This is the floor of the crater, about 246 square km. Here you may see everything from elephant to lion.
If you’re lucky you may see the near-extinct black rhino and elusive leopard. What is not here is the long necked Giraffe and impala. After an early lunch enjoy a transfer to the Ngorongoro Airstrip. You will be in time for your flight to Arusha.
You will be met on arrival by our driver guide. Enjoy a transfer to your luxury hotel in Arusha.
