Detailed 8 Day Uganda Safari Trail Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe International Airport – Kampala

Our Uganda safari rep will be ready by to welcome you upon arrival. You will get some briefing on the 8 Days Uganda safari trail. This will be followed by a transfer to your Hotel for relaxation and some refreshments at cost.

Time allowing, you can enjoy a short city tour to introduce you to Kampala. You also have time to exchange some money to use during your stay.

Spend the rest of the evening at Hotel Africana where you are booked on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park

Start your day with an early breakfast. Our driver guide will be available to start day 2 of the Uganda safari trail. Your drive will go through the Kampala-Masaka high way.

8 Days Uganda Safari Trail

You will get the first break at the Equator. This will be for photo shooting at the Uganda Equator. If need be a cup of coffee or some stretch of the muscles will do.

The drive will proceed as you observe the change in vegetation and topography. You will get into Lake Mburo National Park and check in for lunch.

Some relaxation at your Lake Mburo National Park lodge will prepare you for the evening. In the evening you will embark on a game drive at 1600 hrs.

Return back to Lake Mburo Safari Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

About Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is a special place.  every part of it is alive with variety, interest and colour. It contains an extensive area of wetland. This park also harbors some species of mammals and birds found nowhere else in Uganda.

At 370 square km, Lake Mburo National Park is small. The rich variety of habitats; rocky outcrops and bushy thickets compensates the size.  The park also has open and wooded savannah, forest, lakes and swamps. Lake Mburo is home to a surprising diversity of plants and animals.

This Uganda national park is the only park in Uganda with eland, impala and klipspringer. It is also home to the largest population of zebra in Uganda.

It is said to contains the highest concentration of leopard found anywhere in Uganda. Buffalo, waterbuck, topi and warthog are also common.

Reedbuck and oribi can also be spotted in the open valleys. Hyena, genet, bush pigs and white tailed mongoose are often seen on night game drives.

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park

You will wake up to an early cup of coffee on this day of your Uganda safari trail. Accompanied with an armed ranger you will be out for an early morning game walk.

You will be looking for Owls, Hyenas, Tree Hyrax, Porcupines, Aadvark and serval cats. There will also be Bush pigs and many more animals.

Return to your Lake Mburo National Park accommodation for breakfast. You will have an mid morning relaxation until lunch time at one. Later in the afternoon you will embark on a Boat ride at 1600 hrs. Here you will have a great chance of seeing many Hippos and Crocodiles.

There are also varieties of birds like fish eagles, and many kingfishers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Lake Mburo Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Mburo  – Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will begin your day on Uganda safari trail with an early breakfast. After checkout you will drive out of the Park through the Ankole farm lands.

Enjoy drive past big plantations of Matooke before you get through to Mbarara and Igara. The drive takes you through Kalinzu forest and get to the great view point of Queen Elizabeth.

8 Days Uganda Safari Trail

You will stop for a photo taking moment of the Park and Kyambura Gorge. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park accommodation where you will check in for lunch.

Enjoy an afternoon of relaxation and some swimming. In the evening you will venture on a game drive in Kasenyi and a visit of the local fishing village. You can also tour Lake Munyanyange for a great chance of seeing Flamingos.

You will get back to the Mweya Safari Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s oldest parks. It was formed along with Murchison Falls National Park in 1952.

The park was in the past known as ‘Kazinga National Park’. This is before it was renamed in 1954 to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

QENP hosts 619 bird species, the second highest of any park in Africa. That is the 6th highest of any park world-wide. This remarkable number is enabled by the park’s diverse habitats.

Crocodiles have only recently been seen in the Kazinga Channel. They disappeared for 8,000 years. This is after they were eliminated from Lake Edward by toxic ash from local volcanoes.

Queen Elizabeth National Park contains 95 species of mammal – more than any other park in Uganda.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park

We will have an early cup of coffee. This is to be followed by a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

On this day you have great chances of sightings like lions and hippos. The hippos will be getting back to the water after a night grazing in the park.

There are also chances of sighting leopards, hyenas, Uganda kobs, Elephants and many more. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and relaxation.

After lunch you should be ready for the afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga Channel at 1500hrs. You will return for dinner and overnight at the Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast that will prepare you for the drive to Kibale National Park. This is another beautiful drive with great scenic views.

You get a chance of seeing the Rwenzori Mountain ranges of great hills along and big plantations. The drive takes you along the Crater lakes before getting into Kibale Forest.

You will check into Primate Lodge in time for lunch. You will have the afternoon of your Uganda safari trail on leisure. Dinner and overnight will be at your Kibale Forest accommodation.

Kibale National Park

Kibale is an extensive National Park in Uganda. This park protects a large block of rain forest. It offers some excellent forest for bird watching.

Kibale National Park harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates. There are superb birds and primates combined with easy access.

8 Days Uganda Safari Trail

The park boasts of a good infrastructure and a variety of interesting activities. This makes this forest a worthwhile Uganda safaris destination.

Many of the facilities in Kibale are community based. This provides the local community with the necessary revenue. It has thus helped to keep their interest focused on the long-term protection of the area.

The area is occupied by two tribes ie Batooro and Bakiga. They both tribes utilised the forest for food, fuel, building materials and medicines.

Day 7: Kibale Forest National Park

This is the greatest day of your Uganda safari trail. The day begins with an early breakfast. With bottled water and picnic lunch boxes you will get to the park headquarter.

You will be briefed on the chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. Accompanied by an armed ranger and a guide you will get to trail the Chimps in their Natural habitat.

Return back for lunch and an afternoon spent at leisure. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Primate lodge.

Day 8: Kibale Forest – Kampala

Start the final lap of the 8 days Uganda safari trail with an early breakfast. You will check out of your lodge and drive out of the park.

This will be a journey back to Kampala where you are expected in the early afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.

For those flying out, proceed to Entebbe International Airport for your evening flight home.
