Kalahari Plains Camp
Kalahari Plains Camp is set in a remote part of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR). This camp offers some of the best summer wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. Kalahari Plains Camp is located in the Kalahari Desert biome. This is in the central part of Botswana. This reserve is the largest conservation area in the country. It is one of the largest in the world. Its star attractions include the legendary Kalahari black-maned lion. You will also enjoy some of the world’s best cheetah viewing.
Kalahari Plains Camp is perfectly situated. This luxury camp overlooks an immense pan with endless horizons and beautiful skies. Kalahari Plains Camp comprises eight en-suite canvas units. They come with a sleep-out above each. From the sleep out one can enjoy moonlit or star-studded nights. The main area consists of a lounge and dining area with a swimming pool and deck. Solar power provides all the electricity and hot water in the camp. The tents have insulated canvas walls and roof to keep temperatures inside the units comfortable.

Wildlife at Kalahari Plains Camp
Healthy wildlife populations are present in the area all year round. With the advent of the summer rains, the desert often comes to life. A plethora of plains game such as springbok and gemsbok converge in their hundreds to graze. They will normally be followed by lion. The area enjoys one of the highest concentrations of cheetah in southern Africa and leopard. In winter, the Kalahari is a typical desert. General game is still easily seen, from the carnivores to wildebeest. You can also get a glimpse of red hartebeest and steenbok. Small predators like black-backed jackal, Cape fox, honey badger and mongoose can be seen. Some 220 bird species have been recorded.
Things to do at Kalahari Plains Camp
Game drives and walks unlock the fascinating wildlife and captivating culture of this area.
Twice daily game drives or full-day excursions take place in open 4×4 vehicles. These are directed towards the seasonal movements of the wildlife. Off-road driving and night driving are restricted as Kalahari Plains Camp is in a National park.
An interpretive, guided “Bushman Walk” is often led by camp staff members. They hail from the San Bushman clans of the area. They will provide insights into their traditional lifestyles through dress and activities. The walk is not too far, just about 8u00 merres from the immediate camp area.
Sleep out under the African starry skies of the Kalahari. Here you will be lulled to sleep by the sounds of Africa on the roof of your unit.
The Kalahari is famous for its clear night skies. There is no light pollution and this make it is the ideal spot for star gazing. You can view the incredible formations of the stars and planets. The guides are also known to dabble with astronomy. They will take you on a tour through the constellations.
Cancellation / Prepayment
PAYMENT & RESERVATIONS POLICY
Reservation and confirmation of a room at Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana has requirements. Clients are required to pay 50% down payment for the requested services. The balance will be required at least 14 days prior to your date of arrival.
African Safari Tour will hold a reservation for up to seven days at a client's request. This is to allow the client time to send a deposit payment. This is if Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana booking are over a month prior to the service. This must be received before we can confirm your booking. If confirmation is not received within the seven days all blocked rooms at Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana will be automatically released for re-sale. The full amount of the service must be made within 14 days of date of arrival at Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana. As for bookings within a month of service, full payment shall be requested for. This will be required before confirmation of Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana is undertaken.
All cancellations must be received in writing. This will take effect from the date received by African Safari Tour. The following cancellation charges will apply.
More than 56 days before departure: No cancellation fee
56-49 days before departure: 25%
48-29 days before departure: 35%
28-0 days before departure: 100%
The non-issuing of an invoice or non-payment of deposit will not exempt passengers from these cancellation and administration fees. We regret we can make no exception to the charges and strongly recommend that insurance is taken out to cover cancellation fees. These cancellation charges can vary subject to the trading terms of our suppliers.
Children and extra beds
Children older than 2 years are welcome at Kalahari Plains Camp Botswana. One child from 2 to 11.9 years is charged 50 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed.
The maximum number of extra beds for children in a room is 2.
Any type of extra bed or child's cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management.
Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during your stay.
