Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara Game Reserve
You will be met at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After being briefed on this Kenya honeymoon safari you will be transferred to Wilson Airport. This is in time for your flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is named after the Masai people and the Mara River that divides the park. Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for its exceptional population of game. You will enjoy the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest from the adjoining Serengeti National Park. This phenomenon occurs every year from July to October. It is when wildlife migrates along a circular route from the plains of the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. It happens as the wildlife go in search of fresh pastures. They are followed by hungry predators, most notably lions and hyena. You will be met on arrival at the airstrip and transferred to the lodge with game drive en route. Enjoy an afternoon game drive within the Masai Mara after lunch and a short rest. You will have your night on rest at the Mara Leisure Camp.
Days 2 and 3: Masai Mara National Reserve
This full days are dedicated to game viewing on the open plains of the world famous Masai Mara. The park is nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley. Masai Mara National Park is famous for its many prides of lions. There are packs of hyena and other predators as well as huge herds of wildebeest. This often number over one million especially during the migration period. Other wildlife includes zebra, elephants, buffaloes and giraffe among others. All the Big Five can be seen in the Masai Mara Game reserve. Other species include the Thomson’s gazelle, topi, kongoni, impala, roan antelope and hippo. The nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, also inhabits this park. There are also endangered cheetah and black rhino in the Mara. Bird watching is also excellent with over 450 different species within the parks environment. They include the vulture, marabou stork, secretary bird, hornbill, crowned crane and ostrich. Others to be seen on your Kenya honeymoon safari include long-crested eagle and African pygmy-falcon.
You will set off early each morning this is when game viewing conditions are at their best. Your Kenya honeymoon safari will be out to view the abundant wildlife of the Masai Mara region. Return to the lodge to rest in the heat of the day and lunch. Layer in the afternoon you will set off again for a late afternoon game drive. Your African honeymoon safari in Kenya will then return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at the Mara Leisure Lodge.
Day 4: Masai Mara – Ukunda – Diani Beach
You will wake up to your breakfast before embarking on a morning game drive. Your Kenya honeymoon safari will return to your lodge for an early lunch. You will then be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Mombasa. You will be dropped off at Ukunda Airstrip where our rep will transfer you to Pinewood Village Resort and Spa or similar. Check into your hotel situated on the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean and relax in your warm tropical surroundings.
Days 5 To 10: Diani Beach, South Coast
You will spend your Kenya Honeymoon safari days at leisure to relax and soak up the sun. This is on the Indian Ocean beaches of the warm Mombasa coast. Enjoy the lush tropical gardens of coconut trees and fan-shaped traveler’s palms. Here there are the vibrant blooms of hibiscus, bougainvilleas and frangipani as well the splendid coastline. Activities vary by resort but include water sport, scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Day tours include a Mombasa Tour that takes you to Fort Jesus. This tour also goes to the Hindu Temples and the Old Town, or a visit to a Crocodile Farm.
Day 11: Departure
You will wake up to your breakfast on this Kenya honeymoon safari. This will be followed by time spent at leisure. You’ll later enjoy a transfer to Mombasa Airport for your departure flight home.
